As we have well and truly moved into the digital age, loading up an old hard drive is the modern day equivalent of opening an old diary.
After coming across a dusty old Hewlett Packard 200G, which required some even dustier weird looking cords and connections to get going, I came across "WON A BOAT".
"WON A BOAT" was a story I stumbled across (literally) shortly after starting my first job in television, working for GWN in Broome in 2005.
Paul Scanlon, a QC from Melbourne, won a boat in a raffle and decided to shout the entire of the Diver's Hotel in Broome TWICE in one night. Just picture it, 100+ Broomeites ordering their favourite bourbon and dry with glee...
I'll let the video do the rest of the talking. If you're not laughing at Paul's hilariousness, you certainly will be at my VERY Aussie accent (side note: apparently it has "evolved" since then. Something I find surprising, as my next move from Broome was North Queensland).
Please forgive the low resolution, as it's the best I have at hand.
The story continues...
So, after laughing continuously at this wondrous piece of history, I felt compelled to share it on social media www.facebook.com/katefergusonmedia.
Little did I realise, a day later, Paul would respond with a video update of him and his boat ten years on. Get ready for more laughter...
So there you have it.
May Paul spend many more happy days "fishing" in his garage. Haha!
